I’m Having Lunch With the Shi-ill

I just love seeing my friends.  I want to just sing-song all morning “I’m having lunch with the Shi-ill.”  But instead, I’m going to go get in the shower and get packed and get out of here.

See, and this is good, because I have to use up the gas in my rental car and we’ve decided to meet way yonder north, which will give me a chance to use some.

I’ve had a really good visit and I’m excited about the rest of it.

My toast is still not planned, but I think I’m just going to say something from the heart.  I hate those long roasting toasts, because unless you can really pull it off, they end up just mean-spirited instead of funny.  I’ve known the Super Genius since I was eighteen and she’s one of the most thoughtful, good-hearted people I know.  And I just want to drink to that, to my dear friend finding happiness and someone who’s as ferociously on her side as she is on the side of the folks who love her.

I just feel lucky, y’all. I feel lucky and blessed to meet and know such cool and thoughtful people.  And that’s been my whole week, meeting cool and thoughtful people.

I love you guys so much.

Not as much as I love Mrs. Wigglebottom, but pretty close…

I’d say that that’s a pretty good toast right there.

  2. Best Wishes to the SuperG and the Mathlete! (I still don’t know what happened to her site, or else I’d tell her there myself.) And have fun with the Shill and little Millard. That’s so cool she got married in the mosaic hall.

We got married on my brother-in-law’s 21st birthday. As the best man, he mentioned in his toast that he thought it was swell of us to throw him this great party. That still makes me smile.

  3. Congrats SuperGenius and Mathlete!

Alas, my job got in the way of Aunt B seeing Little Millard, but I’ll let her post a picture or two of him at some point. But we enjoyed a tasty burger for lunch anyway.

Getting married at the Cultural Center was a clever ploy on my part to not have to decorate. And to this day, despite how unbelievably beautiful Preston Bradley Hall is, nobody ever says “You had such a lovely wedding.” They say, “Duuuuuude… that was an awesome party.” We threw the classiest kegger you ever saw.

Click on the grand staircase link. That’s the staircase Aunt B ran down so dramatically. In heels. Whilst drunk.
