I’ll just say it: They’re coming to take The Pill away.
Every one of you has been on The Pill or knows someone who has been on The Pill. You know someone right now who is on it for birth contro, or because she had debilitatingly painful periods, or because she’s taking some other medication the pharmaceutical company demands she be on the Pill in order to take.
The Pill is not the same thing as an abortion. The Pill prevents pregnancy; abortions end pregnancy. If you believe that abortion is wrong, one of the surest ways you can work to reduce the number of abortions is to reduce the number of unwanted pregnancies in the first place and the proven way to do this is to not limit women’s access to birth control.
There should be no political support for this and yet, if we can’t raise enough of a ruckus in the next 30 days, it will become public policy.
See here, here, and here (among others, but these were the ones in my feed reader just now).

Thanks for posting about this. Getting the word out is half the battle – people can’t raise hell if they haven’t heard we’re headed there in a handbasket!
This scares the hell out of me.

A republican co-worker and I were discussing why I was voting for who I was, and he did not believe me when I said the republicans wanted to take away birth control, he was like THAT’S NOT TRUE- totally unable to believe that that is what “his” party is up to.

The link is to a handy form for sending a letter to your elected representatives — a letter you can edit is supplied, and when you put in your name and address, it sends your letter to the correct people.
The regulation is going to be available for public comment at Regulations.gov for 30 days. It’s not up yet (the system is down for maintenance right this minute), but I’ll post a link when it is.
