At This Rate, We Won’t Have to Worry About a Fence

So, Mrs. Wigglebottom and I got up and went over to the house.  It was one of those disasterous successes or a successful disaster.  I’m not sure.  She loved the new place.  Loved it.  She ran all over the yard and peed on as much as she could find to pee on.  She ran in big circles in the grass back where the garden will go.  For only the second time in her life, she played fetch.  She played tug of war with the kids.  She greeted everyone there is to greet.

My friends, it made me so happy.

And now, she can hardly walk.  I had to lift her onto the couch, where she’s now snoring away.

I can’t stand it.  I’ve got to get her fixed.  A dog who can’t enjoy being a dog is no good to anyone, especially not herself.  According to the internet, she’s got a life expectancy of 9-15 years.  She’s only seven.  I can’t imagine her being able to go on like this for a whole nother lifetime.

People of earth, I know I just bought a house, but I bought the house, in part, because I wanted to have a place I could enjoy with my dog.  And I know that, if I’m going to go into credit card debt, I should put it towards stuff for the house, of which we need a lot.  But she’s never dragged herself across the floor like she’d rather not put any weight on her back end at all.

So, I feel like we’re at a crisis point.

So, it has to be done, doesn’t it?

  1. Around here we do things for our pets that will make them more comfortable… so, when the vet told us that pulling the old cat’s teeth would make her more comfortable, we did it — but, when the vet told us that another old cat could have extensive tests, or we could try an inexpensive medicine to see how it worked, we went with the medicine.

She’s too young to be in pain like that — if you can manage to make her better, do so…

  2. Yes, it has to be done. First- my advice is to look into Care Credit, which can be used at veterinarian offices. Second- email me about what kind of stuff you need for your house. You would not believe how much extra shit I have laying around in my garage that I don’t need. And what’s not in my garage, we can probably steal from my dad’s garage. He has an entire cabinet full of those orange extension cords, ha.

Also, things like curtains and stuff, I have piles and piles of extra fabric, we could make you some curtains and if you hate all my fabric, we can hit some thrift stores. Oh, and I can keep an eye out at thrift stores for stuff you need and pick stuff up for you or at least let you know what’s there.

The most important thing is to take care of your family. And in my eyes, your pets are just as much part of your family as the people parts of your family.

Seriously, though, PLEASE email me a list of stuff you need. It would do me a tremendous favor to get some of this stuff I’m not using out of my garage.

  3. Hell, send a mass email out to all of us with a list of what you need. God only knows what’s at my mother’s I would LOVE to get out of there that she is not using and that I don’t wanna have to deal with when her time comes (which, actually, I hope will be AFTER mine).

Aw, poor baby. But yes, she’s too young to be in pain like that.

I loved your description of her day tho. She had a fab day, it sounds like.

  4. No. Not if its the surgery you described to me. Of course you’ll want to make her comfortable, and insure she isn’t in pain, but that should not require total financial ruin.

  5. Hey, do a post of what you need. Sorry to hear about Mrs. Wigglebottom. Maybe it would help to get a second vet’s opinion?
