Good: Lamar Alexander, who I still have not forgiven for standing in front of the whole country and saying that no university in Tennessee taught country music like it had the same validity as any other art form, smacks Drew Johnson so hard I about expect a duel to break out.
Bad: Nearly half of ICU newborns in Knoxville are born addicted to drugs. Holy shit.
There’s something oddly comforting about the fact that metulj hasn’t changed his screen name.
Where and when did Alexander make that university comment? And did any of the Tennesseeans teaching country music at universities send him a nice note?
I couldn’t find a direct link to it any more, but, weirdly enough, it came up recently in this City Paper article. He made it in the New York Times on the occasion of Johnny Cash’s death.
As far as I know, no one told him to fuck a duck, though certainly, folks like Charles Wolfe should have.
