So Pretty, So Sucky

It would be hard to overstate how beautiful this afghan is. A little kid can nap under this or use it as a magic carpet or a cape. Lovely.

But holy god! Look at all the ends I have to tuck.

  1. Oh wow. Um…It may be too late for this project, but have you considered that you can sometimes make ends disappear when you do the next row just by holding them along the top of the stitches you’re crocheting into so that they get caught inside the new stitches? It doesn’t work very well if you’re skipping over stitches, but it might have worked with all those white ends.

  2. Rivikah, it’s got these screwy decreases at the ends. If I had been more comfortable with them, then, yeah, totally, I could have just worked those ends in. But I never got comfortable with the decreases. They were saying to chain three (I think to count as your first stitch) then to double crochet the next two stitches together, which invariably gave me at least an extra stitch on the end. I can’t tell you how many times I had to pull the white stitches back out. I finally ended up not trying the fancy decrease at the beginning, just skipping the first stitch. The decreases seemed to work at the end of the row, but I’m not sure why.
