John Edwards, Listen Here

If you can’t stand up to a bunch of whiny-ass conservatives who will never in a million years vote for you anyway, you will lose my vote.

  1. Not sure how wise it is to write-off all Catholics as "whiny-ass conservatives," but have at it, B. That being said, I think people are naive who believe that bloggers or people who read blogs are concerned about rude or even crude verbiage.

  2. Ned, I think B was talking about the folks at the National Review, Michelle Malkin, and the Catholic League. You know, the people who called for their firing. The Catholic League does not represent mainstream Catholic views (compare their membership numbers with the numbers of American Catholics if you doubt), but do make common cause with whiny-ass conservatives (who by in large wouldn’t piss on the Catholic League’s collective heads if the CL’s mitres and pallium caught fire) when the CL think they can get some media coverage. If you didn’t actively work to get them fired, she’s not talking about you.

  3. I thought it was odd hire in the first place. That doesn’t mean I’m ok with the decision to fire them, but Pandagon hasn’t been the same for me since Ezra left. Screw Malkin and her minions, she couldn’t be less relevant.

  4. NM! Hurray! I’m glad to see you back. Now I won’t have to skulk all over the internet looking for your comments other places where I can suck up the NMy goodness. As for Edwards: "The tone and the sentiment of some of Amanda Marcotte’s and Melissa McEwan’s posts personally offended me. It’s not how I talk to people, and it’s not how I expect the people who work for me to talk to people. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but that kind of intolerant language will not be permitted from anyone on my campaign, whether it’s intended as satire, humor, or anything else."1. Show me anything on McEwan’s blog.2. I find his tone offensive.Fuck. I think Edwards is ruined for me. Why is he publicly chastising them when the people calling for their heads are in one case an anti-Semetic loon and in the other case a loon who thinks we should round up all "Arabs" and put them in internment camps. How are their opinions given any merit by Edwards?

  5. Well, many of the commenters on his ‘blog’ ask those same questions, and also point out that if it takes him 24 hours to get stuff like this right he’s not being too impressive. So, yeah, I think he has properly lost some support over this. All the same, I was beginning to wonder whether anyone out there among the Democrats had the least bit of backbone, and Edwards has now exhibited at least a vestigal one.
