Why They’re Trying So Hard Right Now

John McCain on Ellen last week:

he opposes gay marriage and believes in “the unique status of marriage between and man and a woman.”

“And I know that we have a respectful disagreement on that issue,” the likely Republican presidential nominee said

Jenna Bush Hager on Ellen last week:

“So, can we borrow it for our wedding,” DeGeneres asked. “Can we get the ranch?”

With her mother, First Lady Laura Bush, sitting by her side, Jenna Hager said, “Sure.”

  1. And don’t forget Luke and Noah on ATWT.
You know, I think we may be taking a turn.
But then again, 2000 put us back about eight years.
Maybe we are getting them back.
    ***fingers crossed***

  2. I could be wrong, but I just can’t help but believe that social conservatives are fighting so hard right now because they know that the younger generation thinks it’s stupid. If they don’t outlaw stuff now, they’ve lost the fight, because the kids coming up think it’s fine.

As it stands, really, all they’re doing is making it so we have to fight about this another twenty years before we win.

  3. B, you have it right on there.

Social conservatives are frantic because they know time is not on their side on this one (or most of their positions for that matter).

True, true. I’ve heard so much railing among my own old and very conservative relatives about the supposed turpitude of family members younger than me. They are panicked that their rigid mores are going to die out. But I also think they’re secretly bitter that they played by the old rules and didn’t screw whom and when they wanted, and now they’re upset that their grandkids are getting away with it.
