I was actually looking for a different painting by Langford, but this one came up on the first page and seemed even better. Oh — do you know Jon Langford? Of the Mekons, Waco Brothers, etc. and quite the painter, too.

I’m embarrassed to admit that I get John Langford and John Hartford confused in my mind.
Well, they’re both funny guys. But John Hartford didn’t paint. Also, he was from St. Louis (I went to high school with his younger sister), and Langford is from Wales.
Hartford’s widow fed me chocolate cake once. Back before his manuscript disappeared, I spent an afternoon eating cake and reading it.
