  1. The funniest part is that folks will warn you to enjoy peonies in the yard, but to never bring them in the house because they’re always covered in ants. Check how this bud already has an ant on it.

  2. I used to hate the ants on my peonies until I finally learned that they are symbiotic and necessary to big healthy blooms. The ants do something with the bud covering leaves and the interaction influences how healthy your blooms are. weird.

    If that bloom turns out to be a lovely light pink and ruffle-y you probably have a cultivar known as Sandra Bernhardt. It’s an older common one and a great flower.
