Young Buck

I was on my way to the gas station when a beautiful six point buck leaped across Clarksville pike and then across Lloyd (so I got to see him twice) and he leaped like he was almost begging to be chased.

Even the truck coming the other way stopped to watch.

  1. I live in the Belmont neighborhood. One Sunday morning, earlier in the summer around 10 am, I walked past my window, coffee in hand, and just glanced out toward the front yard. As I looked out, I thought “well, that’s is one big dog” — I looked closer and realized it was a deer… a female (I surmise as there were no antlers). It was standing near the corner of the yard near the mailbox. I went to my office to find my camera, only to discover it wasn’t charged. I then grabbed my iPhone and eased outside.

I barely cracked the door, and it was still standing in the front yard. It froze, I froze. I started pressing the capture button on the camera. The deer moved a bit toward the street, then across the street into the neighbors yard. As I took the last photo, she was standing at my across the street neighbor’s mailbox. Then she trotted up the street north.

It was a sight to behold.

I asked around and two of my neighbors have seen her. But we haven’t seen her since.
