Gary Odom Points Out the Uncomfortable

So, the State Republicans have proposed a balanced budget based on the assumption that Federal level Democrats are going to push through more money that our Federal level Republicans have vowed to vote against.

I repeat–the State Republicans can only balance the state budget without raising taxes if they have Federal money.

The very federal money a certain State Republican, in office right now, is running for governor on “booting” out of Tennessee.

Odom is great here–“It is a ‘terrible program’ until you use the proceeds from the program to balance the budget.”

  1. When you see this kind of doublethink, you are left with the inescapable conclusion that the doublethinkers are:
    (a) morons (which seems unlikely), or
    (b) revolving-door SOBs* who will say anything to get elected in the cynical confidence that no one will ever catch on to the contradictions.

Is there no penalty in American politics for talking out of both sides of your mouth? Not since “Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain” have we seen such breathtaking hypocrisy.

    * A “revolving-door SOB” is an SOB no matter which way you come at him.
