Is It Just Me?

Every time I hear John Mayer’s “Half of My Heart” I wonder if there’s a masked track in which Mayer cackles evilly and croons “These dumbass women will buy anything as long as I sing it like I mean it.” I swear, something about that song just strikes me as so damn condescending, like he thinks we’re too stupid to not like it. It’s not the words or the music, though, so that’s what makes me think it must be a masked track.

  1. I have a severe allergy to his music and have to change the station anytime I hear one of his songs begin. Especially now that I’m pregnant since I feel like I’m abusing the kid since I know she can hear now.

But I agree with you — he is almost sickeningly condescending in so many of his songs. Blech.

  2. I think the whole “sexual napalm” comment clued most women into his asshattery. At least it did for me. He’s a douche.

  3. College boys have the mistaken impression that John Mayer CDs make girly-pants magically fall off. I think John Mayer thinks so too. He appears to think as long as he’s utterly candid about being a douche that no one can fault him for it — you know, like he’s really in touch with his inner dog.

I hate watching him make his orgasm face when he sings.
