Not just because Brittney Gilbert is a long-time FOTCP, but because once you start hearing “Where has all of the oil gone? Maybe it never was as bad as they said,” you can count the seconds until folks along the Gulf are going to find America has moved on to the next shiny new disaster. The dicking-over is about to begin in earnest.

But those folks are still going to need help.

I Can’t Stop Looking!

I have, as you know, been in stunned love with the interior since I first saw it. The font is just delicious and the layout encourages just the right pauses. So, I’ve been flipping back and forth between the interior and the exterior, trying to imagine how they’ll go together.

I cannot wait.

On the one hand, I’m now more firmly convinced that anyone can self-publish, once he or she figures out what he or she is doing.

But, looking at the interior and the exterior, and knowing the work that Kristen did, I also feel like this is really going to happen because of four incredible resources–four incredibly talented people who are not me and who can do stuff I can’t do.

I look at what they’ve done and I know it would have never occurred to me to do those things. I wouldn’t even have known what I wasn’t able to bring to the table, if I had tried to do it myself.

I don’t know. It’s just wild. I’m very, very lucky. I promise, I’ll stop gushing about it soon, but I’m just overwhelmed with gratitude.

I can’t wait for October. The versions of stories in the book have been greatly improved over what you’ll read on the blog, but I’m excited for y’all to see the stories, no matter what the format.

I have had so much fun with this and I really hope you enjoy them, as well.
