  1. Supposedly, the average wind speed around here is around 5 mph, which is too low for most wind turbines to generate power. Most (especially home-based turbines) require around 9 mph averages.

  2. And the turbines need to be at least 30 feet higher than anything within 300 feet to reduce turbulence.

  3. Yeah, Jim, I buy that maybe around here, but what about out in west Tennessee? That’s very flat, not a lot of things to be 30 ft higher than. Seems weird not to have them. I saw them in Illinois and Indiana this weekend.
