I probably should have taken a before and after shot of the nandina, but I think this is the most severe pruning it’s going to need for a long time. The ancient stalks are all gone now and I’m hoping some light can get in and encourage new growth.
Next year I won’t prune, just trim.
I think it may be a couple of years before that fills in.
Yeah, but the problem was that ALL the leaves were on one ancient stalk. Once I took that out, it was obvious that… oops… there’s not much nandina left.
I think it’s going to be a lot healthier in the long run. But it’s just going to be a little… um… light for a while.
Oh, yeah, it’s gonna love all the light and space it gets. But it will take 2-3 years to fill in.
