1. This is the biggest worry in my garden right now–my rosemary. Boy did it not winter well. I mean, ugh. Look at it.

I don’t know if it’s going to come back from this, and I’m sick about it. But I read online that you can trim a rosemary back to 25% of its usual size and not kill it.

I’m hoping that a plant that can survive that severe a trim can survive the winter damage it has. There’s still some green in there and so I’m hoping.

But man, I will be sad if I lose this rosemary.

  2. I bet it comes back just fine – if not 100% this year, then next. Mine looked very similar last spring and I panicked. I cut it back about a third and thinned out the middle. It eventually looked pretty decent. This year, it’s already looking a lot better. As insurance, I’d take a sampling and root it somewhere else. I did that, and now I have multiple healthy plants in a variety of spots.

  3. Okay, I’m going to not do anything to it. If it bounces back, I’ll trim it up in the fall. But I don’t want to put any more stress on it right now.

I can’t believe the sage weathered this winter better than the rosemary. All this winter, I was worried about the sage; the rosemary seemed fine.

And then, finally, with the last snow, the rosemary was like “Fuck it, I give up.”
