I have placed all the text of “The Witches’ Friend” into its end format. I’ll have to do a little finessing, now that I know what text is going to be where. And then I will start the internal linking.
I’m really pleased with how it’s turned out. I was a little worried about the scary part, but I think one nice thing about the format is that the physicality of flipping to the next screen adds a little tension… a little…. well, you know. It kind of lets me cheat! I might not know how to build suspense the honest way, but I have figured out how to compensate for my lack of skills.
I decided not to fuck with the order, since, when you look at individual sections, you get a choice that says “next” that takes you to the actual next thing, and I didn’t want to fuck that up.
The only thing I’m not 100% satisfied with is that they are 5 complimentary stories that you, if you choose, will be able to jump around. And I wanted there to be some visual indication that you’ve jumped storylines. So, the first story is numbered 1, 2, 3, etc. and the next one is “one, two, three” and then the third is “first, second, third” but the fourth and fifth are letters–uppercase and then lower. It’s not exactly pretty, but at least it’s awkward enough to make the jump into a different narrative thread obvious.
Anyway, I’m having fun with it. Hopefully y’all will like it, too.
