Here Is Why I Don’t Believe The ‘Orgy’ Accusation at Occupy Nashville

Most people have phones with cameras. So, if you saw your ideological enemy engaged in a behavior that would discredit a movement you don’t agree with, why wouldn’t you take a picture of it? Send it out to the media? Hell, even FoxNews? You’re witnessing an orgy right outside your office window conducted by people you want gone from outside your office window and you don’t get evidence?

Okay, fine, maybe seeing a blow job would be too startling for you to think of grabbing your phone.

But where are the pictures of the poop? Of the overwhelming trash?

Let’s be frank. Bill Hobbs was not down there for his health or to offer his support to the protesters. He was hoping to get images or a story that would discredit them, at least until the governor decided to start arresting journalists.

No, I think there are no pictures because there’s nothing to have pictures of.

This is just some urban legend shit. “Everyone” “knows” how “slutty” liberal women are and how dirty liberals are, so you can just say there’s something happening without having to offer up proof.

Well, until these conservative legislators and their staff provide some proof, I’m going to believe they were just looking for excuses to bully people they didn’t like.

  1. Maybe the orgy warms everyone up.

Deputy Comptroller Jason Mumpower is the one who complained to THP, based on a complaint from an unnamed legislative aide. Why wouldn’t the aide complain to the legislator he/she works for?

  2. I spent my entire youth looking for these so-called dirty, slutty, liberal women. Suffice to say my search wasn’t entirely fruitful.

  3. If I ever happened across a public orgy of anybody (political enemies or otherwise) I’d be snapping pictures on the sheer basis of “oh, nobody is gonna believe this actually happened.” So yeah, pictures or it never happened.

  4. Am I the only person in the world who doesn’t have a camera in her phone? I might see a UFO land and not get a picture because I still have one of those “perfectly functional for talking but nothing else” sorts of phones.

I get your point and generally concur, but not everybody does have the tech to do what you suggest would be matter of course.

  5. I don’t think Hobbs was down there for any nefarious reason.. Leaving any convoluted psychoanalysis to another time, I believe he really was there because he considers himself a “constitutionalist first”, as he put it.

  6. I’m with Chris and ‘coma on Bill’s motives.

I’m also with you on the fact that this OWS/ON has been the biggest vector for Urban Legends since Bubble Yum.

Although I kind of don’t want to call it that for the simple reason that “urban legend” makes it sound like something that just sorta happens by way of casual chitchat. In reality I think there are some outright liars who are spreading outright gossip in hopes that they will score points for their side.

I don’t know if that makes me a “concern troll” since I’m not generally one to side with the OWS/ON folks, and pointing out the brazen lies of my “side” is concern troll-y.

But honestly. All the stuff that’s come out sounds like mean ass bullies making up crap. “They shit on the sidewalk”; “They piss on cars”; “They fuck in the bushes”.

Can’t they just be people with a different opinion doing something non-nefarious?

  7. I love y’all, but if you think that Bill Hobbs went downtown for Constitutional reasons, I have a bridge to sell you. I know he stayed once he saw that was the issue, but please.

    No.

Just no. Bill Hobbs went downtown for the same reason Jason Mumpower called the THP–because dirty hippies are ruining it for the decent folks and someone needs to do something. If Bill Hobbs stayed downtown because the RINO elites decided to suspend the Constitution and allow him to look non-partisan and reasonable, that was just his good luck.

  8. I hope it’s obvious that I don’t believe hippies are ruining it for decent folks, or even that Occupy Nashville is made up solely of hippies or that I think there’s such a thing as an “elite” as a slur or that Haslam and them are RINOs.

But one never knows. So I’ll clarify.

  9. I’ve been down there a couple of times and I haven’t seen anything inappropriate as well. I agree, this is a soap opera of trying to change public perception through the media.

  10. two things:

    1. i’ve been to several orgies, and none of them were outdoors because it would ruin the vibe. orgiastic sex and exhibitionism, which i also suffer from, are two different activities, although equally bitchin’ in their own right. rite. way.

    B. the tea party people are infiltrating the “occupy” movements and doing some very bad things, like overturning cars and breaking windows, simply to make the occupiers look bad. that’s clear to me and everyone smarter than bella.
