The Architectural Tour of My Own City

After I got my oil changed, I went and looked at the back side of the lot Sue and Ben Allen’s house was on, the Workman’s Circle hall, and the two houses on 5th Avenue North. The houses on 5th Avenue North were so helpful both because they are so obviously spot on in terms of time period and and only slightly smaller than the Allen house (three windows across instead of four), but also because the houses were not at all shaped like I thought they’d be. You’ll see from the pictures that they both have stretched out to meet their kitchens, but at least one of them appears to have always had a kind of less formal back extension. It was really cool. Also, the door of the Allen house is obviously set up like all these doors, but I didn’t see that until I’d see them.
