Lord almighty, read this post from Joe Powell and then come back here and tell me if there isn’t some way that we can’t force Phil Bredesen to come back here and be Governor Haslam’s governor tutor? Completely non-partisan, just “This thing is called a legislative body. It makes bills. Then it’s your job to decide whether the bills are a good idea and to veto them if they’re not” type stuff.
Because I think it’s becoming dreadfully apparent that Haslam does not know what the hell the office he ran for and won actually does.
No, he doesn’t. And he also apparently doesn’t know that his Commissioner of Education, Kevin Huffman, refused to take a position on the creationism bill. That’s right…the highest executive arbiter of all things educational in this state is such a gutless tool of the right that he refuse to take a damn position on an education bill.
My disgust could fill galaxies.
I’m starting to worry that we have a de facto Ron Ramsey as governor situation, because Haslam is a clueless ditz.
Well, Ramsey is running the Senate like he thinks he won the governor’s race.
What makes you think that Haslam doesn’t know exactly how gov’t works? This just looks like classic buck-passing to me.
For me, this is the straw that breaks the camel’s back. I would like to believe that he knows and is attempting to blow Powell off, but there have just been too many comments from the legislature about him not knowing when and for how long they met or how he was supposed to work with them for me to see this as anything other than confirmation that those stories are true.
I hope I’m wrong.
I am impressed because the Gov’s office actually replied to Powell. What’s the magic formula for getting replies? I’ve written my Senator(Haynes) and Rep(Turner) for years and never even get so much as a form letter in reply.
We haven’t had a good governor since Clement; Phil is just as much a heartless 1%er as Haslam.
I use email. However, only the Democrats ever respond.
“I’m just a bill, I’m only a bill, and I’m sittin’ here on the desk of Bill’s, and I hope I’ll be a law somedaaaaaaaaaaaaaay…”
Min, both my Sen. & Rep are allegedly Democrats.
Maybe if I said I was the CEO of BlueCross and I had my checkbook out….
I’m pretty much convinced that there is no reason to fear. Haslam has never intended to be anything other than a rubber stamp for ALEC. He’s doing a magnificent job. Besides, does anyone witnessing this circus seriously contend he could handle more than one constituent? REALLY?
