Yep, That Sucked

I have been unwell. So, I’m cold-turkey-ing the pain killers, in hopes that I will then be able to poop or throw up or both.

So far, there hasn’t been a lot of pain, more like just an intense feeling of “yep, your boob is right there.”

But I think I’m going to try to take a shower again today. Maybe wash my hair.

  1. Rather than stopping the main meds altogether, which, might, ya know, introduce pain to an already uncomfortable situation, try cutting the recommended dose in half. That tends to work for me when I’m prescribed opiates: there’s still enough in my system for pain control, but not enough to make me woozy, and the constipation is controllable.

My post-op experience was that the thing bothering me the most was the remains of anesthetic in my system. So deep breathing/coughing or whatever they told you to help clear it out will help a lot.

Also, there is no rule that you can’t take a shower with your bra on.

  2. Well, I guess I should have read from the bottom up before commenting. But–
    1. don’t cold turkey. It’ll do bad things to you.
    2. Milk of Magnesia, grape juice, root beer floats. These are all excellent laxatives. (The combo of dairy and carbonation causes a fermentation action in the stomach which then prompts what they technically call “dumping reflex.” A lot of times I find that root beer floats are a much less harsh laxative than anything else.)
