Logistics

The Butcher is moving out soon. Soon-ish. They need to make some space for him up at The Butcher’s Soon-to-be-Wife’s house. But then he’ll be up there. I thought I would be sadder, but it’s just up in Gallatin and I like seeing him happy.

I don’t know. I guess as it becomes more real, it might be a bummer. But for right now, I’m kind of looking forward to it.

I did broach the subject of him leaving his cat here. He was not happy with my suggestion, but the cat is seventeen years old. He likes it here and he knows here. We’ll see. I just think you shouldn’t uproot an ancient cat unless you have to.

  1. And would the cat like living with kids full time? Also, doesn’t he ‘help’ with your walks? I know you’ve mentioned it in the past.

  2. The kids, too! He does like them, but at our house, when he’s done with them, he has his hiding places and can go outside. Which is the other thing, we’re in a suburban enough area that he can pretty safely be an indoor/outdoor cat here. I’m not sure how that would work, or if it even should work, in town.

Plus, he’s mean as fuck. Always has been. Right now, as I’m typing this, he’s sitting on the Butcher’s lap, trying to swat the phone out of his hand and alternately biting the other hand. He’s never bitten the kids, but he certainly would.

And he does help with my walks! Who will come all surly out of the underbrush to yell at me when I’m taking too long to get back to the house?
