I’ll Buy Beer and Pizza

Nashville, it’s not that I don’t believe the Butcher’s friends are going to show up on Saturday, it’s just that… well, I don’t believe the Butcher’s friends are going to show up on Saturday.  He says “So what?  I’ll just move everything myself.  I can do it.”

This seems to me so dumb.  Why would we take all day to move everything ourselves when, if we just had even a little dependable help we could have everything on and off the truck in a couple of hours?

So, I’m asking for help.  If you’re looking for something to do on Saturday, we could really use the help moving.  We’ll get started around eight or nine and we have to have the truck back before four so one way or another it’s got to be done by then.

So, yeah, I guess it’ll kind of suck and I can’t afford to pay you (though I will let you stand next to my old bookshelves, on the off chance they come up with some trick to grant them a reprieve from the dump), but I will buy beer and pizza and I’ll let you pet my dog.  Or the Butcher.  Whichever you like.

And I’ll be in your debt forever.  Obviously.

  1. I’m going out of town this weekend. Otherwise I’d be more than happy to pitch in… I know what a pain moving can be.

Look on the bright side, after this, you’ll never have to move again!

    Good luck!

  2. I’d help, but I suspect the babies I’d have to bring along would just be a distraction. Plus then you’d have to show up and help me move in November.

Should I think about getting wisteria for my yard?

  3. W., I believe wisteria is the cure to many a thing, but if you don’t have a good place for it to climb, maybe not. Linda, I’ve seen your kid. He’s big enough he could probably help the Butcher with the couch.

    NM, mmmm.

  4. yes, my MS trip that’s long overdue – gas shortage be damned!

I’ll get you some wisteria. And I’ll get you some angel trumpet cuttings if at all possible — that will be your housewarming gift ;-)

  5. I have to wait around on Saturday for FedEx to deliver a car part, or I’d be glad to help out. Only two people moving a household’s entire contents really sucks. Good luck with your move!

  6. B–I’ve got wisteria. I don’t know how to make a cutting, but saraclark does. And I’m sure there are sprouts around to dig up. I love it, too.

And you’re right. With JJ there, you may not need much more help.

Sorry I can’t help…you know, massages, Mexican food. I’m celebrating that I’m NOT moving on my birthday. I’ve spent many birthdays moving. Okay, just three. But that’s a lot. It’s what sucks about having a birthday at the end of the month.

  7. Can you get the truck on Friday night? Joel and I moved by ourselves the last two times, and it seems a bit easier if you can load the truck one night and only have to unload it the next day.

You should have seen the two of us carrying one of those terribly heavy sofa beds down the stairs from a second floor apartment!

  8. Pizza Place has a long history as the first pizza restaurant in the city of Winnipeg which then went on to be a chain that was well known for the consistent high quality of its product
The pizza was soggy , cold and just plain mush – ukh
It was tomato paste mush , not cooked and not hot.
I guess anyone is entitled to have a bad day / pizza
I phoned the restaurant in question – they could care less
I called another in the chain
They promised to inform the “independent owner” of that location
    No call for several days
I called this pembina highway location simply asking for the “owner”
    I was hung up on
When i called back to ask if this was not rude to hang up on people without saying goodbye I was then hung up on again
In the end owner number one returned the call with plenty of excuses
You be the judge as they say as to the consistency of quality and level of service afforded

  9. Ooo. Kathy, if you come on Friday, there’s going to be a huge “accidental” fire. Ha, just kidding. I only feel like burning everything we own and starting over. I would not do that.
